Dear Bandcamp Subscribers,

The last few years have been challenging in ways we could’ve never imagined. When the pandemic began in March of 2020, we decided to stop getting together at the studio and work on music remotely. We continued working on our studio recordings at home, sending files to each other, and talking on zoom every week. We found a flow, embraced the moment, and started to think of ways we could get together outdoors to play our instruments. Little did we know that just a few months later, a catastrophic lightning storm would hit Santa Cruz, and would prevent us from playing music together for over a year. Despite our separation, we pushed forward musically, as a band and individually. We stayed in constant communication, keeping each other inspired and connected, while dreaming of the day we could all be together again. It wasn’t until June of 2021 that we were finally able to see each other face-to-face and play music. Instead of working on our album, or rehearsing for upcoming shows, we decided to take 10 days to play and record only what was in our hearts. To reconnect in the best way we know how; improvise.

We are thrilled to share with you, our loyal Bandcamp community, these exclusive recordings we call “The Bubble Sessions”. This improv is the first in a series of recordings we’ll be sharing from these sessions, documenting one of the most emotional and important moments of STS9 to date. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed playing.
